In October 1949 BSA announced the A10 Golden Flash. It was essentially a bored and stroked version of the earlier A7 but with revised cylinder head castings, rocker box and cast-in carburettor manifold. With its overhead valve 650cc twin, the Golden Flash was capable of a mind blowing 105mph. However, in 1954 the even more sporting A10 Road Rocket appeared and with an alloy cylinder head, high compression pistons and a high lift camshaft, produced 40 bhp with a top speed of 109 mph.

551XUF was first registered in 1959, manufactured in 1958, and has been restored within the last ten years. Having covered only 416 miles since completion of the rebuild, this Road Rocket is still presented in fine condition. New rims have just been fitted and a new MoT test certificate will accompany the bike. Regarded by BSA owners as an extremely useable model with excellent performance and spare availability, a Road Rocket would not only make an ideal future investment but would undoubtedly satisfy any biker looking to expand his or her collection.
