The final and most exciting of BSA's long line of 'pre-unit' 646cc parallel twins, which had started with the Golden Flash back in 1949, came in 1962 with the launch of the mighty Rocket Gold Star. With a specially tuned a10 super rocket engine in the well proven bsa gold star single frame, bsa created a very fast bike (for the time) with good handling that became an instant 'classic'.The Rocket Goldie was inspired by a one-off special that Gold Star specialist Eddie Dow of Banbury in Oxfordshire had built for a customer several years earlier. That bike had simply been a Gold Star single with a twin-cylinder engine fitted. The production A10 RGS model incorporated a number of modifications to this basic concept, but was essentially a blend of BSA's Super Rocket engine in a chassis based on that of the Gold Star. The Rocket Gold Star remains the most sought-after of the firm's pre-unit twins, and will long be remembered as a memorable way to end the line.

Surviving original models are in huge demand and we are delighted to present this example from an enthusiast privateer.

Truly iconic -a 1963 BSA Rocket Gold Star 650cc - finished in Black and Silver.

This particular bike left the BSA factory in Birmingham and was consigned to its first owner in Cheshire being first registered on 25th June 1963. One of its' previous owners was a Mr Donald Morley, reputedly one of England's most noted motorcycle photographers of the 50's and 60's. Described as 'not quite concours - but in excellent condition' and having won at local village shows. This bike is an original UK bike benefitting from a Certificate of Authentication from the Gold Star Owner's Club.

It has a 650cc engine with siamese exhaust, is taxed until end of April 2012 and will have a fresh MOT prior to being offered for sale. Current milometer reading is 1715, but a new speedometer and rev counter were fitted a few years ago.A new rear tyre has just been fitted. ( through age not wear!)
