The Mercedes 280SL ‘Pagoda' was introduced in December 1967 and continued in production through until February 1971.The W113 was then replaced by its successor, the entirely new and substantially heavier R107 350SL. Over the years, the W113 evolved from a ‘sports car' into a comfortable ‘grand tourer', and was usually equipped with the 4-speed automatic transmission and air conditioning. The obvious change from its predecessor was the upgrade to the 2778cc M130 engine, which purists will tell you finally gave the Pagoda adequate power. Now suitably refined, the car proved popular in the US market, however, we've seen a significant increase in demand here in the UK - not least due to the 190SL rising beyond the budgets of many.

This 1970 left-hand drive Mercedes-Benz 280 SL Pagoda is presented in white with red leather interior. The car has been registered in the UK for a number of years and was imported from the United States.

Over £12,000 has been spent on recent improvements such as a brand new re-trimmed interior and various mechanical works. Supplied with a factory hardtop and new soft top, this attractive and desirable 280 SL is supplied with an MoT certificate and is taxed for road use. This car will be driven by a Silverstone Auctions employee and potential purchasers are welcome to contact the office for a fair description of this car's condition and paperwork.

280 SL Pagodas are one of the most popular and practical classic cars money can buy. Judging by this example, we can certainly see why.
