Silverstone Auctions Selling Guide

The simple step by step guide below has been designed to help you through the process of selling your vehicle or item of memorabilia. Once confirmed, our team of specialists will ensure that your entry is marketed to the widest possible audience worldwide.

 

What are you going to sell?

The first step is to tell us what you are thinking of selling, with as much information about it both in words and, if possible, as many recent pictures as you can.


Valuation

We assess the value of all entries based on the information you provide including their condition. If our estimate meets your expectations and you would like to proceed, a member of our specialist team will visit you to view the entry, confirm the terms of sale and agree with you the most appropriate auction to feature it.


Entry

Once Terms and Conditions have been agreed upon and you have settled any relevant Entry Fees, we will confirm receipt of the consignment. These procedures effectively represent the formal instruction of Silverstone Auctions to sell the item on your behalf.

Entry Fees and Charges

Entry fees include entry into the relevant Auction Catalogue showing your entry with full colour pictures and descriptive text. (Whole page for motor cars, Half page for motorcycles, 1/6th of a page for automobilia items). Should your entry sell at auction, we will charge our standard seller's commission based on the hammer price your entry has achieved.

Automobilia/Lifestyle £25 (plus VAT) per entry 10% of hammer price (plus VAT)
Motor Cars £250 (plus VAT) per entry 5% of hammer price (plus VAT)
Motorcycles £125 (plus VAT) per entry 5% of hammer price (plus VAT)

 

Delivery

You will then need to arrange for the item to be delivered to Silverstone at the appropriate time in readiness for the sale - we will instruct on date/time/directions. The item should arrive in a presentable and saleable condition. If your item is deemed by Silverstone Auctions to require further cleaning/presentation you will be notified prior to any work being carried out - but you will be charged for the work by deduction from the net sale proceeds.


For those sellers who require assistance with transportation we have a logistics partner in Kent Vale. (Kent Vale are fully experienced in transporting classic cars and the very best marques of new cars both in the UK and across the world).


Attending the auction

We will send you a copy of the Auction Catalogue which will admit two persons to the Auction and we do encourage you to attend. This is, however, entirely up to you. Our aim is to create an atmosphere that provides an enjoyable experience for all attendees whilst our prime objective is to achieve the best possible price for any entry on your behalf.


Payment

Proceeds of your sold entry will be paid to you within a maximum of 14 working days after the auction date provided we have received the full purchase price from the buyer. We will settle with you the amount of the hammer price less any outstanding charges (including the fees we previously agreed).
