A NEW APPROACH IN AN AGE OLD BUSINESS+44 (0) 1926 691 141
The product of another successful collaboration between Alfa Romeo and Zagato, the Sprint Zagato, or SZ, as it was more commonly known, was built between 1989 and 1991, with a total of just 1,036 cars produced. Launched at the '89 Geneva Motor Show, all cars were built in left-hand drive form and fitted with a 3.0 litre V6 engine. With its limited production numbers this unique supercar is highly desirable today, and low mileage examples can command exceptional prices, as Silverstone Auctions proved with more than £84,000 being realised for an 808km example in February of this year. In keeping with our reputation for offering best-of-breed examples, we are delighted to once again be presenting an exceptionally low mileage SZ, this time, with just 860 kilometres having been travelled from new. We believe the car was originally supplied new to the Basque Country in northern Spain, and this little Alfa predictably boasts Rojo (Red) bodywork with Tan leather interior - the only colour combination available! The car belongs to a Doctor from a prominent Spanish family and usually resides with him on Ibiza. Included with the car is an SZ embossed leather book pack (accompanied by its paper sleeve) containing service record, handbook, and the guide to service network, all in Spanish. The service book carries one stamp from franchised Alfa Romeo dealer, Auto 88, in Barcelona who carried out a complete service on this car in August 2014 at 858 Kms and at a cost of some 2,000 Euros. The condition of this car almost defies belief with the supple leather seats being all but untouched, as is the steering wheel and gear knob. Care has clearly been taken in the storage of this vehicle since the Sun has not impacted on the paint finish and there are no areas evident which require attention. At the risk of sounding like an auctioneer, it's best-of-breed. Guided sensibly, at a time when this special Alfa's place in history is finally being recognised, the limited production SZ is an important chapter in the long running story of collaboration between Alfa Romeo and Zagato starting with the 6C way back in the 1920s and 30s.
