Originally supplied new in Italy and registered in 1982 Imported to the UK in 1989 with three UK keepers since then Recent service and cam belts at Ferrari Specialist, Bob Houghton Showing 44,000 km and supplied with a fresh MoT October 1975, saw the debut at the Paris Motor Show of the most successful shape ever to wear the Cavallino Rampante emblem, the Ferrari 308, and during its comparatively long production run from 1975-85, over 20,000 examples of all engine types and sizes were produced. This new car was constructed on a traditional steel tube chassis, but its beautiful body was initially manufactured in GRP and then, after two years, Scaglietti started forming GTBs in steel. The 3-litre, four-cam V8 was more or less unchanged until March 1981 when Bosch fuel injection was added in place of the four double-choke Webers, unfortunately reducing the engine's power output significantly, although the final drive was altered on these cars to give similar acceleration to a carburettor car. Two years later, the 4-valve per cylinder Quattrovalvole or 'QV' model pushed output back up to 240 bhp restoring the status quo. European spec cars boasted higher horsepower than cars built for the American market and were lighter. Only 748 308 GTB/S QV models were produced and they are considered by many to be the most desirable of all the 308 variations as they are the fastest and most subtly styled with a deep front valance, racing mirrors, and short lightweight bumpers. This is a very original Ferrari 308 GTS finished in Rosso Corsa with Nero leather. Showing 44,000 km, it's a 1981 model-year first registered in Italy in 1982 and imported into the UK in 1988, since when it has been enjoyed by three former keepers, one from 1989 until 2004 and then from 2004 until November 2017. It's been in dry storage for the last 10 years and has had very little use for quite some time. Previous MoTs help corroborate the indicated mileage. Having recently been serviced, fitted with a genuine Ferrari air filter, spark plugs, new cam belts, and filled with fresh fuel at well-known Ferrari specialist Bob Houghton, the QV fires up and sounds and runs well, starting first time every time. The bodywork is in good order with matching numbers. The roll-out toolkit, jack and spare wheel are all in good order and, with a fresh MoT, this Ferrari is ready to be enjoyed.
