DESCRIPTION
First introduced in 1959, the Mini is the most famous small car in the world. The inventor, Sir Alec Issigonis, and friend, John Cooper, could both see the potential of the car in competition and their joint vision lead to the Morris Mini Cooper fs a Rolex signed automatic with date. The dial is white with gold roman numeral hour markers and luminous hands. Presented in nice original condition with a new replacement price of £15,900.00.
irst appearing in 1961. Their development and evolution eventually led to the Austin Mini Cooper S appearing in 1963, and they went on to claim world-wide success in both rallying and racing with the versatile and nimble Mini. The Cooper S's iconic appeal as a sportier version of the Mini was specifically underlined by its success at the Monte Carlo Rally in 1964, 1965 and 1967, as well as its appearance in the 1967 British film The Italian Job, in which Minis and Mini Coopers play a key role in a bank heist.
This Mk 1 Cooper S has covered a graceful 42,000 miles from new. This mileage is substantiated by a documented history from the first owner until today. CSM 848C was first registered on 23rd April 1965 via Thomas Corrie Ltd, Dumfries in Tartan Red with 4.5 inch wheel rims, oil cooler and twin fuel tanks options. The current owner restored the car from 2004 to 2006 after the 3rd owner had kept it off the road for nearly 28 years. Crucially based on the original shell, complete with The DVLA Z5 to 2S mistake, the restoration was a complete nut and bolt overhaul. New steel panels were fitted and the original engine and gearbox completely rebuilt. The car is finished in the correct Tartan Red - Old English White bodywork with stunning Newton Commercial seat coverings. Overall, no expense was spared in rebuilding this Cooper S to original specification.
Supplied with a Heritage Certificate, numerous bills and receipts for works carried out and with only 4 owners from new, Mk 1 Cooper S' of this quality are an increasingly rare find with values continuing to soar.
