DESCRIPTION

The increasingly rare and attractive Fiat 2000 Dino Coupe was assembled with same engine varation as the Ferrari 246 Dino. Ferrari had needed to produce 500 units to homologate their engines for F2 racing so an agreement was reached with Fiat to create three cars, a Ferrari Dino 206, a coupe and a spider. The initial capacity of the road going V6 engine was 1987cc but this was later increased to 2418cc, which was used in the Ferrari 246 GT and GTS. The same engine was given to Lancia who installed it in the legendary Stratos. Built in 1967, this rare 2000 Dino Coupe was exported to the USA and with approximately 80,000 miles on the clock in 1990, it was taken to the highly respected and renowned Ferrari Specialist Serge Dermanian of High Performance Cars, Waltham, Masschusetts for a full engine rebuild. It was subsequently purchased by a friend of his in Massachusetts, Richard Mallio, who has owned a number of rare Ferrari and Maserati cars. Richard Mallio dry-stored the car in his garage until 2012, when he re-commissioned it and then placed it for sale. It was then purchased by the current owner and shipped to the UK. Upon arrival the Dino underwent a full checkover by FarSport in Oxfordshire, which included new tyres, a complete brake system overhaul, new front and rear lights and lenses, a new propshaft couling, oils and fluids replaced and new shock absorbers. The vehicle is MoT tested until the end of January 2015. The engine has been rebuilt in the UK by WAD Fiat of Wolverhampton. A bare metal respray from the original white Bianco Duco to the stunning colour of Grigio Titanio Mettalizzato was undertaken by Towcester Coachworks last year. The restoration and re-commissioning totals over £12,000 and there is a history file with a photo-record of the respray, copies of all import and available US documentation, and the UK receipts for restoration work undertaken to date. Fiat Dinos have long been highly undervalued exotic coupes and it is rare to find one that has been subject to so much recent work. With engine values alone totalling £10,000, this charming little Fiat offers Ferrari power and sleek Bertone design for a most reasonable outlay. Please form an orderly queue...
