DESCRIPTION

The Mustang was a defining motorcar for Ford and an iconic symbol of the American Dream. With its stunning looks it has become one of the greatest American cars of all time. Launched at the New York Worlds Fair on April 17th 1964 Ford secured over 22,000 orders on the first day. It fulfilled many criterias for the new consumers; sporty looks, factory options, economy but with performance alternatives with the V8 engines. Many of the new owners reported to 'Finding the Fountain of Youth' in a sports car! Ford revelled in the accolades not surprisingly and acknowledged a design masterpiece supplemented with, for the first time a host of factory options available on ordering.

Offered here and regarded as the purest of all Mustangs is a 1964 1/2 Coupe produced as part of the earliest production run. Built at Ford's Dearborn Michigan plant on 26thJune 1964 this all matching numbers Mustang is a very rare car indeed with its original 260CID V8 Engine and Cruise-O-Matic transmission. Most unique is its array of factory fitted options which comprises of:

In V8, cruise-o-matic transmission;· Power Steering;· Power brakes;· Wire wheel covers;· Deluxe steering wheel;· Rally-Pac;· Console;· Locking glove box;· Reverse lights;· AM radio with rear speaker and very rare Studio Sonic Sound System (reverb);· Seat belts;· Rocker panel moulding;Rare rear arm rests

The complete history of this Rangoon Red with Red Beatuy interior Mustang is fully documented from new having been sold by 'Dowd Ford Inc.' to Mr. Alan G. Winslow of Virginia in October 1964. The records show a number of Virginian owners until December 1986 when it went to Roanoke Virginia for a full restoration. From that period on, it won over fifty awards in America as a superbly restored example that retained all the original features and as a rare surviving early production Ford Mustang. Our vendor, whilst visiting Virginia for a wedding in 2005 purchased the car and bought it to the UK and has remained the only owner.

A rare and original value for money classic.

The Ford Mustang constantly figures in the worlds top ten of iconic cars and with the guide set here, must be the bargain entry to that exclusive club. More importantly, its a very early car and therefore earmarks it for special consideration. Fifty years on the excitement of those special factory extras still seems to delight. A practical and usable icon.
