DESCRIPTION

The Porsche 930 Turbo was a genuine 'Supercar' that defined the Seventies and Eighties. It was one of the fastest production cars available at the time. It was first seen at the 1973 Paris Auto Show and full production commenced two years later. The basic engine underpinnings came from the Carrera 2.7RS which was increased to 3.0 Litres and, of course, turbocharged with technology gained from Porsche's 917/30 Can-Am programme. The bodywork received special treatment to produce one of the most aggressive looking Porsches ever made with its wide arches and impressive rear whale-tail. The brakes came directly from the Porsche 917 race car. The final evolution of the 930 Turbo saw the engine capacity increased to 3299cc, with improved upgrades on the intercooler and fitment of the G50 transmission. By 1989, the final year of production, the power had risen to 330bhp.This 1989 930 Turbo is a hugely desirable G50 5-Speed UK model and is finished in Guards Red with tan interior. First registered on 13th March 1990, the odometer is reading only 24,800 miles. The mileage is supported by past MoT certificates dating back to 1997, along with the early service stamps in the maintenance folder. It was purchased by the last registered keeper in 1999 at 9,800 miles and in 2008 was acquired by the current vendor with just over 24,000 miles on the clock. Stored in a temperature controlled environment and forming part of a large private collection, this Turbo has seen little use in recent years but remains in stunning condition. The paintwork is bright and in keeping with such a low mileage example. The inner wings and boot area look highly original with a light wax finish. Similarly, the seats and interior are in superb condition and show very little signs of use on the driver's bolster and carpets. The car will have all fluids changed prior to the auction and will be sold with a fresh MoT certificate. There is a large folder of past bills and receipts detailing expenditure and general upkeep.Complete with 2 sets of keys, a tool kit, an original fitted car cover and leather wallet, this 930 Turbo is a true icon of its era. Inspections are more than welcome and potential bidders should feel free to contact the office for further information. Draped on the bedroom walls of badly dressed 1970s/1980s children and currently the 'must-have' for a new generation of collectors, the future investment potential of this car can not be underestimated.
