Works-spec Group 2 Touring Car professionally built under strict FIA Scrutineer Guidelines.

DESCRIPTION

  • Professionally built 1975 Dolomite Sprint to Group 2 Touring Car specification
  • FIA HTP – Competition Touring Car period 1972-75 – valid to 2029
  • Engine spec-sheet, built to Group 2 Homologated specification January 2020, refreshed 2021 with only dyno time
  • AP 4-pot (new) Historic calipers to front. Correct interior including dash and door cappings
  • Tested, developed and raced 2018-20 – dialled-in chassis with fresh mechanicals
  • Eligible for many championships including Historic Touring Cars, HSCC, CSCC, Peter Auto etc.

Purchased as a club race car, the ‘Dolly’ was fully stripped and the bodyshell prepared to ‘Group 2’ regulations. A full T45 FIA multi-point cage was fitted by Custom Cages, Group 2 arches were fitted and the shell was painted in Leyland White. It was then sent to Retro Engineering to have the Group 2 sub-assemblies fitted, along with the wiring, fuel system, engine, gearbox and axle. A quality Recaro seat and Schroth harness is installed (expire at the end of 2023).

A test programme started in 2018 culminating in a strong debut at the Gold Cup, a JD Classics event. Further testing and development followed during 2019 and 2020 but, due to restrictions, only the Silverstone Tourist Trophy was entered, again resulting in a strong finish.

The car has been prepared for use and comes with the latest evolution of engine with only dyno time. Retro Engineering Ltd have transported and looked after the car at events and have all the running data, life log and set up sheets.

It’s homologated to FIA 5542 valid to 31st December 2029, Period: H1 1972 – 1975 (This car is specifically 1975), FIA Class: CT24-Touring car up to 2.0 litre

We believe that, in its current spec, the Dolomite car is eligible for many events including:

Historic Touring Car Challenge in the Group 2 Class up to 2.0. – 4 x UK rounds

Heritage Touring Cup – Peter Auto – 5 European rounds – Italy, Belgium, France, Spain and Portugal

Smaller UK based Championships

CSCC – Future Classics – 10 UK based rounds – to include Spa

HSCC – Dunlop Saloon Car Cup – 4 x double UK rounds only

Detailed specification;

Engine:

Full Group 2 engine. Steel crankshaft, con rods and forged high-intruder pistons.

Cylinder block has been deburred and modified to assist cooling and lubrication.

Fully baffled sump with windage plate, competition oil pump.

Steel flywheel and 7.25” competition clutch

FIA-compliant cylinder head, ported to size, oversize competition valves, Colsibro-alloy valve guides

Steel billet camshaft with steel cam followers and tuftrided rockers.

Special cylinder head studs and nuts with Wills Rings machined into block face and a quality head gasket.

Cooling modifications with standard driven water pump.

Ported inlet manifold with twin 48DCO Weber carburettors.

Modified distributor with Lumenition ignition system.

Electronic rev limiter fitted.

Side exhaust – 104DB

Large capacity radiator with electronically controlled cooling fan.

Gearbox:

Non-overdrive, 4-speed close-ratio, dog-engagement, straight-cut gearbox.

Modified propshaft to suit gearbox and axle.

Co-axial clutch release bearing.

Rear axle:

Heavy-duty Axle ST part C-AHT662, running special half shafts, competition disc brakes and hubs.

Currently running a 3.6:1 crown wheel and pinion with an Australian made plate LSD, with adjustable ramp angles.

Suspension:

Intrax special order, built to the current owners specifications. Adjustable height coil-over spring configuration.

Competition rear suspension link bars – STR0007

Competition front sub-frame – STR0243 Strengthened and modified to allow for quick gearbox removal.

STR0243 Top suspension arms with competition spherical bushing. STR0245 lower arms.

STR0241 Hub carrier with heavy-duty stub-axle. STR0240 hubs with heavy-duty competition wheel bearings. Competition adjustable tie bars STN0109 with spherical front mounts.

Heavy-duty front roll bar with relevant drop links and mountings.

Heavy-duty wheel studs, nuts and inserts are fitted in Minilite wheels.

The car is wide track as per the Group 2 Regulations.

Brakes:

Front; C-AJJ4129 AP 4-pot calipers with vented discs, rear AP calipers with solid disc.

Adjustable pedal box, twin AP cylinders with adjustable bias. The mounting is triangulated to increase rigidity and reliability.

Steering:

Competition quick-rack with alloy mounts, competition steering column with a quick-release steering wheel.

Fuel system:

ATL 80litre fuel cell with internal lifter pumps, feeding a swirl pot and switchable delivery pumps to the engine. Pressure regulated by an engine bay mounted pressure regulator.

Electrical:

Motorsport-quality wiring loom. Control is via a centre mounted control panel. Electronic battery isolator to FIA regulations. Lightweight dry-cell battery mounted in the engine bay. Headlamp flash and wiper control is via steering wheel buttons.

Heated windscreen and driver cooling fan. The fire extinguisher system is electronic – next service due 10/22.

Any motor vehicles not collected by 1pm on Wednesday 31st March will be taken to our transport partners storage facility for a fee of £150 plus VAT. Storage will be charged at £10 plus VAT per day from Thursday 1st April onwards.
