SUMMARY
A UK-supplied, one-owner, Series 2 with just over 45,000 miles from 25-years in storage.
DESCRIPTION
- A UK-supplied, one owner Series 2 automatic with 46,620 miles indicated.
- The Series 2 was distinguishable by its restyled front which now featured two headlamps
- Remaining on mechanical fuel-injection prior to the arrival of the Weber-equipped Series 3
- This example was built in late 1972 but not registered until March 1973
- Finished in Cromwellian Buff with a Black interior
- On offer from a private estate, it has remained in garage-storage for the last 25 years. We are led to believe that there is some paperwork with the car and some history documents from when the car was on the road showing at least some maintenance from its early days
- Representing a fabulous opportunity to acquire a rare AM V8 with real potential
Please note Registration Number 'DHT 12' will not form part of the sale.
With an estimated 345bhp available from its 5,340cc, fuel-injected, four-cam engine, Aston Martin's DBS V8 could reach 100mph in under 14 seconds, running on to a top speed of 160mph, a staggering performance in those days and one that fully justified the claim that it was the world's fastest production car. Even in automatic transmission form the V8 could reach 100mph in around 15 seconds and better 145mph flat-out.
The acquisition of Aston Martin by Company Developments in 1972 brought with it a change of name for the V8-engined cars: out went DBS V8, in came AM V8. This new Series 2 was readily distinguishable by its restyled front end that now featured two instead of four headlamps and recalled the looks of the earlier DB six-cylinder Aston Martins. Bosch mechanical fuel injection was retained while electronic ignition and air conditioning were now standardised.
We are delighted to offer for sale this 1973 AM V8 Series 2 with mechanical fuel injection, one of the first Astons to emerge from Newport Pagnell not sporting the traditional 'DB' moniker. Finished in the rare hue known as Cromwellian Buff over a classic black leather interior, this particular car comes to us from a private estate and has only had one owner from new being registered on the first of March 1973 but manufactured in late ’72.
The odometer currently indicates 46,620 miles from new, the extent of the Aston's travels prior to being put into storage some 25 years ago. We are led to believe that there are some items of paperwork with the car and a couple of older documents from when it was last on the road showing at least some maintenance from its early days. This is one of those rare opportunities that arise from time to time and usually generate considerable interest.
