SUMMARY

Very smart little Morris Mini Traveller in Almond Green that's been carefully restored with great attention to detail.

DESCRIPTION

The popularity of the Mini spawned a variety of models targeting different markets, but all are based on Sir Alec Issigonis iconic design. The Morris Mini Traveller and Austin Countryman were two-door estate cars with double, barn-style rear doors built on a slightly longer chassis of 84inches compared to 80.25inches for the saloon. From the start of production, both models had a decorative, non-structural, Ash wood trim on the rear body, in the style of a pre-war shooting-brake giving the car a similar appearance to the larger Morris Minor Traveller and inevitably led to them becoming known as 'Woodies'. It's a popular misconception that the difference between the Traveller and the Countryman is the wood trim as all-steel versions of both the Morris Traveller and the Austin Countryman without the wood trim were launched for export markets in April 1961.

Offered here is a superb, right-hand drive Morris Traveller that’s been the lucky recipient of a £20,000+ restoration. The restoration was done properly over a five year period finishing in 2009 and the results are clear to see today. It's finished in Almond green with a fresh porcelain green interior and the attention to detail throughout is impressive.  The odometer shows just 18,869 miles which could well be correct but can’t be warranted. It's supplied with an Owners Manual and a late 50s/early 60s Sirram four-person picnic set to complete the sense of nostalgia for those of us sufficiently ancient to remember these cars when they were new.

Coming from a significant private collection, we encourage all interested parties to come to the NEC to inspect this special car in more detail.
